New Political Party Emerges!

Recently it was announced that the former CEO of the Federal Green Party riding association, Mr. Ron Fischer resigned as he lost faith in Elizabeth May as leader of the party. Some people were taken by surprise, including me as Ron gave no indication that he was thinking of stepping down as CEO.

Well that was a couple of months ago, and yesterday I received an e-mail from Ron which is listed below:

Well Boys,

The united opposition will be co-opting the united party and targeting about 50 riding where we feel that uniting the Liberals NDP and Green supporters under the united party banner could yield wins where none was likely before.  While this effort has some high level interest and support in the Libs and NDP no one will come out and support us until they see grass roots support happening that they can hitch a ride onto

So this will be an EDA level effort at first, I would like the two of you on board and I would like you to help me enlist other green, liberal, and NDP converts in Simcoe grey.

Had enough of beating your head against the Green wall? Had enough Harper, his ego, his lies and his mean agenda? There is a real chance in Simcoe Grey. For us to win against a divided conservative vote if we stand united and give the electorate a clear choice

What do you say, are you in?

While the concept of another political party is quite interesting, I do have a few questions like who's the party leader?, what's the party structure?, do they have a constitution?, do they have a platform?, who are the candidates?, and the list goes on and on.

The Federal race in Simcoe-Grey is going to be a full field with Helena Guergis running an an independent Conservative and a few new faces for the Greens, Liberals, and Conservatives. The concept of a political party that unites the left is a great idea, I think that for this new party to be successful they need to work on what makes a political party, a political party. They need to develop a strong infrastructure, have a platform in place, have a party leader, and have a strong base of supporters first before they move forward in any Federal riding.

If the left truly wants to unite they need to merge the Liberals, Greens, and NDP into one big political party that would defeat the Conservatives hands down. The right united with the merger of the Alliance-Reform party with the Progressive Conservative party, so the same needs to be done on the left. Will this ever take place? It might if this new political party starts to take away key players from the Liberals, NDP, and Greens. Until that time, this new political party will take away votes from the left which will for sure allow the right to win again, and maybe, just maybe it might be enough for the Conservatives to form a Majority government.

Until next time!
