For some of the candidates it was a busy day and for others, well let's just say it was not.
Let's start off with Green Party Candidate and Leader of the Ontario Green Party, Mike Schreiner. This morning Mike was at Queens Park with Federal Green Party Leader, Elizabeth May to address the fact that Mike is not allowed in the Leaders debate at the end of September. Here's the website set-up to sign the petition http://www.letmikespeak.ca/
After the press conference, Mike along with Elizabeth went to a few local ridings surrounding Simcoe Grey to offer support to the local candidates. In the afternoon they were both in Alliston at a local park.
PC - Jim Wilson was out and about in the riding meeting local voters, and he'll be knocking on doors this weekend, and attending a few PC related events.
Liberal - Donna Kenwell was meeting with residents and explaining why they should vote for her and the Liberals.
NDP - David Matthews was also out and about in the riding meeting with residents.
Before I finish this brief update for today, I do have to say that both Jim Wilson and Mike Schreiner are working their butts off to get elected. They both have signs up all across the riding, they have both been meeting with residents and business owners from Alliston to Collingwood and all places in between. Even today I received in the mail a postcard from Mike Schreiner with his family and telling voters why they should vote Green.
As for Liberal Donna Kenwell who was late to the game, and NDP David Matthews who was not as late to the game they both need to step-up and let the people of Simcoe Grey know they are also in this to win. Up to this point this is a two way race between Schreiner and Wilson. Having ran for public office twice, I know that it's hard work and when I ran in 2007 I was running to win, and in 2010 I ran for Mayor of Wasaga Beach because nobody else wanted to go against Patterson, and I hated the fact that had I not stepped up he would have been acclaimed.
So Kenwell and Matthews need to step up and show the people of Simcoe Grey that they are not just names on a ballot.
Don't forget to attend the Rogers Debate this upcoming Wednesday in Collingwood at the Legion Hall starting at 7pm.
Until next time!
