Talk about partisan politics!

The other night I was watching the holiday messages from the Mayor of Collingwood - Sandra Cooper, and the Mayor of Wasaga Beach, Cal Patterson.
Mayor Cooper did an excellent job telling viewers what her plans, and that of council are for the next 4 years. Also to give credit were credit is due, so did Cal Patterson. He seemed relaxed, and did a good job at telling viewers not only what he has planned for Wasaga Beach, but also for Simcoe County as he's the Warden as well. Everything was going fine until the end of the interview/program when Patterson's partisan side popped up.
He was talking about getting funding from the Province to expand River Road to 3 lanes, expand the bridge that connects River Road and Mosley to 4 lanes, and also more funding for our water and sewer work. He went on to say that with a povincial election in 2011, he hopes to see a change from red to blue so he can get all the funding he needs for the towns projects. He even went further to say that we are and always have been a blue area. For those of you that don't know, Red means Liberal and Blue means Conservative, in the United States it's the reverse.
Anyway this is a Mayor and Warden who for the next 10 months has to deal with a Provincal Liberal government, and he should not make these partisan comments. While this area's MPP is a Conservative, nobody knows if the government will actually change next October, and if it does who says it will be a Conservative government. A word of friendly advice to the Mayor of Wasaga Beach, and the Warden of Simcoe County. Please keep your partisan comments to yourself, otherwise if the government does not change, and the Liberals are back in power again your plans for the area might just go up in smoke!
Until next time!
