Smardenka, Guergis, Leitch, O'my!!

What an interesting day it was on the Federal side of politics in our riding. This morning on 97.7thebeach, Guergis blew a fuse during her interview when she was asked more questions about her husband, Rahim Jaffer then about herself. Some of the questions related to her husband's charges, and not to defend Guergis, but WTF does that have to do with her record as our MP, and being kicked out of the party. One would think that if you wanted to attack Guergis, her record as our MP is plenty. But who am I to question what the "Local" radio station who has "For Lease" signs all over their offices asks during an interview.

Next up the local NeoCons gathered at the RecPlex in Wasaga Beach to hear speeches from the 3 candidates seeking to carry the Conservative banner in Simcoe Grey. As yours truly would not have been allowed within 25 feet of the RecPlex I have a link for you to check out http://eastendunderground.wordpress.com/2011/03/24/angriest-speech-ever/

From what I read it seemed that it was an interesting night, and I wonder if Cal Patterson brought his endorsement stamp to the speeches, but that's for another post.

Last but not least was the nomination meeting for Alex Smardenka, the now official Liberal Candidate in our riding. This meeting was held at the Wasaga Sands Golf and Country Club, and I was shocked to see over 150 people in attendance, yes that's 150 plus people attending a Liberal event in Conservative Simcoe Grey. Not only did Alex give a great speech, they also raised a ton of money for the riding association as candidates can't raise money until the writ is dropped.

On the topic of the writ, it seems that a vote for non-confidence is scheduled for Friday afternoon. This vote is NOT related to the budget, it's related to the Contempt of Parliament charges against the Conservatives. So if the government falls its NOT because of the budget. If the MP's vote non-confidence in the government then the PM on Saturday or Sunday morning goes to see the Governor General and the election is underway.

The National Post listed Simcoe Grey as one of the top 20 ridings to watch in the upcoming election, because of the Conservative vote split.

Until next time!

  1. What in the way of boots on the ground does Alex need to help him win this election that is so important to the Country? Jack Hunter 5195993152
