Well it's been a whole week since the PM went to the GG, and asked that Parliament be dissolved on a non-confidence vote. So where are all the candidates these days? Dr. Leitch was in Collingwood going into local businesses and talking with residents. I've only seen 1 Leitch sign in Wasaga Beach as of this posting. I hear she has an office in Collingwood and Alliston.
Helena Guergis was the first out of the gate with her signs and they are all over the riding. I counted today 15 lawn signs in Wasaga Beach for Guergis. I've also read that she's getting some high profile help from grassroot Conservatives in Alberta who are upset on the way Harper treated her. It should be interesting to see if this helps her campaign or not.
Alex Smardenka has 3 campaign offices, Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, and Alliston. His signs are going up slowly across the riding. With his strong base of supporters, I'm sure we will see more signs this upcoming week.
Katy Austin has placed her smaller signs across the riding, and like Guergis she was next up in getting her signs out. I've also seen about a dozen lawn signs in the Beach area for Austin.
22 year old Green Candidate, Jace Metheral has set-up shop in Creemore which some feel is the centre of Simcoe Grey. He has a few signs up across the riding as well. Don't know how he'll do with the Greens polling around 4% across the country, but at least it's nice to see some young blood in this race.
Dr. Peter Vander Zaag, is again the CHP candidate. Last election the other good doctor got 1.8% of the vote, and he had a ton of signs up across the riding, so we'll see how he does this time out.
I'm quite sure that we will see the race in Simcoe Grey heat up in the next couple of weeks, as this riding is one to watch.
Until next time!
