As the 2011 Provincial Election fast approaches, the PC, Greens, and NDP have their candidates selected and ready to go. However the Liberals seem to be missing in action, can't find the riding, or they have come to realize that it's better not to run a candidate in Simcoe Grey.
Last year, the leader of the Ontario Green Party made it official that he will run in Simcoe Grey against long time PC, MPP Jim Wilson. The NDP now have their candidate in place and gearing up for the race ahead, and the Liberals to the best of my knowledge don't have anyone interested in carrying their banner in Simcoe Grey. Why do the local Liberals at the Provincial level wait to the last minute to announce who their candidate will be? When I ran in 2007 I had to fight the party to get them to hold a nomination meeting at which I was acclaimed as the candidate with only a few weeks to spare before the campaign started.
So I have a few questions to the President of the local Liberal riding association...What are you waiting for? do you even have a candidate? does the central party even care about running a candidate? This race I feel will be a 3 way race between the PC, Greens and NDP. The Liberals will most likely come in 4th for their worst showing since Norm Sandberg ran against Jim Wilson back in the 1990's.
Until next time!
